Pulmonary

Lymphatic Drainage can be a source of relief for many pulmonary patients. The lungs can be drained with LDT as long as there are not any contraindications such as blood cots, fever, cancer or virus. Your doctor would be the best person to know if this type of therapy would be appropriate for your condition. LDT however is very helpful by allowing the lymph system to detox toxins through the rest of the body to help support the immune system and assist in circulation. If draining the lungs is contraindicated due to pulmonary embolism, other areas of the body such as the face, clavicular area and inguinal areas can help to begin relaxation mixed with some Swedish massage to boost the immune system's efficiency.

Some diseases can be treated with Castor oil packs to engage and stimulate the lymphatic system and for better functionality of the respiratory system. "Cupping" percussion of the back area helps to stimulate the lungs and cause expectoration if needed. The castor oil packs are traditionally performed 3 consecutive days, followed by a lymphatic drainage session after the 4th day. The Castor oil packs can be done at home prior to the LDT session to save on costs. They take approximately 2 hours each day for the whole treatment set up and time on the thoracic region. The castor oil packs can be done at the office for those who would prefer the treatment and can afford the time and service.

LDT with some massage techniques can really help with the rib cage, diaphragm and the neck so the lungs can breathe more efficiently. It is a very relaxing therapy that allows the patient to learn how to breathe better. Some physical rehabilitation exercises are important so that the body is able to strengthen and manage the effects and discomfort of lung issues, as long as it is indicated to their condition. Check in the Resource tab for exercise options, to see what is right for your particular situation. Start slowly and stay committed to your program. LDT and massage can assist with any sore muscles and some passive stretching to support your rehabilitation.

Aromatherapy can also be helpful with the single use or blends of eucalyptus, camphor and peppermint. Healing Meditation visualization is also helpful and supportive. It supports the patient with conscious awareness of the breath while at the same time creating a relaxing environment.
