Orthopedics-Sports & Injury
The usefulness of Lymphatic Drainage Therapy for sports-related injuries and soreness (inflammation, swelling, tissue regeneration, etc.) is obviously indicated for this type of therapy. Remembering that in sports-realted trauma, the bleeding should have subsided, and if possible, any bone dislocation should have been assessed and reduced before having lymphatic drainage performed. An elastic bandage can be used to conrol the edema, stabilize the injured articulation and prevent further injury during the rehabilitation phase.
The following Sports & Injury indications will benefit
from LDT:
Edemas
Subacute or chronic bruises (after the bleeding has stopped)
To improve the condition of muscles before and after sport events (draining
lactic acid and other wastes)
Sprains
Muscle Spasms
Muscle cramps or pain
Ligament and meniscal lesions
Dislocation (luxation), subluxation (both according to medical and chiropractic
definitions)
Fractures (under cast, after cast removal)
Post-fractures or post-sprain symptoms: pain, discomfort, etc
Scars/fibrosis
Pre and Post-surgery rehabilitation
Neck pain, whiplash
Sciatica:
There are many different etiologies of sciatica. It is not an indication
for treatment exclusively by lymphatic drainage, but in some cases it has
helped patients
