Neurology

Many nervous structures are vascularized by the lymphatic system: layers of peripheral nerves, chains of sympathetic ganglia, the dura mater and pia mater of the meninges, etc.

Lymphatic Drainage Techniques can be used in numerous neurological applications. Any pathology with edema, inflammation, etc. which creates a need for tissue regeneration and/or immune system stimulation can benefit from lymphatic drainage. Some studies have shown that LDT yields benefits from headaches and migraines; in addition, its beneficial uses seem to range from certain kinds of post-traumatic syndrome to spinal infections and injuries, concussions, peripheral and cranial nerve disorders, facial paralysis, neuralgia, memory disorders, muscular dystrophy, etc.

The relation between lymph, cerebrospinal fluid and cerebral interstitial fluid is most interesting. It helps us understand the interconnectedness between the peripheral lymph and the fluids of the central nervous system.

The following indications will benefit from LDT:

Headaches
Migraines
Post-symptoms (head aches,vertigo)
Cerebrovascular accident (stroke)
Hemiplegia, chronic ischemic syndrome, various encephalopathies
Concussion ( common cerebrim common spinalis)
Spinal injuries
Cerebral spastic infantile diseases (cerebral palsy, Little's disease)
Neuralgia facial, intercostal neuralgia, herpes zoster neuralgia, etc.
Trigeminal neuralgia
Facial paralysis
Parkinson's disease, choreic disorders: LDT sometimes brings about a diminution of the trembling
Multiple Schlelrosis (MS): Some studies may indicate that the crisis times become shorter and the remission periods of MS become longer with lymph drainage
Vertigo
Peripheral nerve disorders. Cranial nerve disorders (facial nerve paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia, Bell's palsy)
Myopathy, muscular dystrophy or atrophy
Spinal poliomyelitis ( may be effective on resultant edemas)
Epilepsy
Memory disorders
